Three Games That Stand Out This Weekend - Football Betting Preview
Looking ahead to the weekend, I’m focusing on games where the numbers and the narrative line up — strong recent form, clear motivation, and the potential for high-event matches. Shots, corners and a bit of needle. That’s the angle again.
I’ll be using bet365 for this one to make use of their early payout offer on win bets. If your team goes two goals up at any point, that selection is settled as a winner — regardless of what happens after. Big edge in the right spots.

Exeter vs Rotherham – Saturday 3pm
This stands out straight away.
Exeter are 3rd in the last 8 games form table — 17 points from 24. Their only defeat in that run came against league leaders Cardiff. They’ve also navigated tricky away trips to Reading and Huddersfield and picked up points in both.
This is a softer assignment.
Rotherham are bottom of the same form table with just 4 points from 24. Their only win in that spell came against a struggling Northampton side — and they had to come from behind in that one. They’ve won just twice away all season, both by a single goal.
Exeter at home:
7 home wins this season
5 of those by 2+ goals
With the early payout in play, this is a spot where we don’t need to overcomplicate things. Odds just under EVS are more than fair.
Selection:
Exeter to win
Elche vs Barcelona – Saturday 8pm
Barcelona’s only defeat in their last 8 league games came away at Real Sociedad. I watched it — Sociedad were excellent. Barça equalised after throwing everything at them, only to concede again shortly after.
I expect a response here.
From a numbers perspective:
Possession
Barcelona: 69% (1st in league)
Elche: 59% (3rd in league)
But possession doesn’t always translate to corners.
Corners per game
Barcelona: 7.29 (1st)
Elche: 3.52 (17th)
That’s a clear edge in the corner match bet market at around 1/3.
On the goals side:
Elche have scored in their last 7 league games
Scored in their last 6 home games
10 of the last 11 H2Hs have gone over 2.5 goals
Elche will see enough of the ball to contribute, and Barça rarely play in low-event games when chasing rhythm.
Selections:
Barcelona to win the corner match bet
Over 2.5 goals
Hibernian vs Rangers – Sunday 2pm
Rangers have kicked on under Danny Rohl. Structurally they look far more solid and there’s clear buy-in from the players.
They’ve even brought in a set-piece coach (Scott Fry), and it’s paying off — they’re dangerous from corners and actively look to create them. Rangers’ games produce the most corners in the league.
Hibs are 9-8-6 from 23 games and decent in patches (3 wins from last 5), but they’ll be without top scorer Kieron Bowie (8 league goals).
At Easter Road:
Hibs haven’t beaten Rangers since 2020
Recent meetings also point to high-event trends:
4/5 with 9+ corners
5/5 both teams receiving at least one card
Hibs won’t sit in. They’ll have a go — which should fuel shots, corners and probably a few bookings.
Selections:
Rangers to win
Over 8.5 corners
Both teams to receive a card
